Bên Em Đang Có Ta (meaning “Beside You, I Am”) is a famous Vietnamese song penned by legendary songwriters Tram Tu Thieng and Truc Ho. The song speaks of the plight of children, trapped in perpetual poverty, and calls for the coming together of humanity to stand beside the children of the world.
In 2007, Asia Entertainment Inc., an internationally acclaimed and established overseas Vietnamese musical production company, release Asia Video 54: Tram Tu Thieng and Truc Ho - Buoc Chan Viet Nam. This DVD featured the song and images of a child street vendor, bringing tears to audiences worldwide. Thousands of viewers wrote to Asia Entertainment Inc., wanting to sponsor the child. The overwhelming response to this segment parallels the message of the song and the objectives of the Ben Em Dang Co Ta Foundation (previously the Tram Tu Thieng Foundation). And thus began the Ben Em Dang Co Ta Child Sponsorship Program.
Right now in Vietnam and Cambodia, there are countless children, living a miserable childhood, denied of education, basic healthcare and shelter. This also leaves them more vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking, a growing problem in Vietnam and abroad.
BEDCT Child Sponsorship Program aims to provide a buffer by availing vulnerable children and their community with long-term benefits for vital growth and development. It is our dream that one day, every child will have the opportunity to realize his or her full potential.
